Finding where to buy SkyLanders is not as easy as you may think. There are stores that carry them, however many stores are out of stock. The game itself is entitled Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure.

Skylander Characters

One thing to note is that the characters work no matter which game platform you have (Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox). If you have a house like mine, with multiple video game systems, this is extremely helpful as I only have to buy one of each Skylander Character. Also if you are looking to purchase the figures or someone such as a grandparent is looking, you do not need to know or understand anything about the game. You simply find a Skylander figure and purchase it. This particularly helps when you are explaining to a childs grandparents what they want. I for one am very greatful they decided to go this route and allow the figures to work on all their video game system platforms.

Skylander Options

Skylander Starter Pack The starter pack is named “starter” because it has the video game and what is known as the portal of power. The portal of power is what you place the figure on. Once the figure is placed on the portal it appears on the screen. You do have to pay attention to which game system you have. The video game in the starter pack is specific to either Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox or Sony Playstation (PS3).

Skylander Single Character This is a single figure that can be used by any of the video game platforms. There are multiple characters to choose from. Each character comes with a card.

Skylander Character Pack The character packs are very popular. Typically it is cheaper to buy a pack of three than three individual characters. Also if you are buying for a family with more than one child this will decrease the likelihood of arguments and fighting, something I always aim to do.

Skylander Adventure Pack Feeling adventurous? The adventure pack comes with a character along with magic items and typically something to unlock another level of game play. This is sure to make the gift receiver very happy.

Mega Pack The name says it all. This is the ultimate pack for someone who has not yet started with Skylanders. This has everything they need to get started. Included is the video game, the portal of power, and multiple characters. Typically it also has items similar to the adventure pack. You could skip all the items above and obtain an adventure pack to get them started. Be sure to choose the proper video game platform, either Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox or Sony Playstation (PS3).
